Vikingo de Jerez willl perform once more at Open Studio in Northcote, a Melbourne secret that showcases gypsy music and international rhythms.
The last performance on the 11th of June was a packed house. For those that missed it , here is your chance to experience a night of flamenco that evolves from original guitar compositions to exciting dances rhythmic flavour and often ends in an impromptu fiesta.
Rowland Schultz (Vikingo De Jerez) is a self taught Flamenco guitarist discovered by Tommy Emmanuel in 2007.
Rowland is inspired by the Gipsy Flamenco artists of Andalucia Spain and has been described as a Phenomenon by ‘Duquende’ the Duke of Duende who also happens to be Paco De Lucia’s most favored Gipsy Flamenco singer (Duquende is currently on tour with Paco De Lucia & Co 2010).
Rowland is also an accomplished Oud player and has infused the sound of the Oud into his unique Flamenco guitar technique. His style and drive as a flamenco guitarists has attracted the attention of leading Flamenco Artists and Musicians worldwide including Duquende, Tommy Emmanuel, Ginesa Ortega, Arcangel, Antonio Vargas, Misirli Ahmet, Harri Stojka and Lulo Reinhardt.
As an extravagant addition to the 7 piece troupe, Fernando Mira will grace the well worn planks of Open Studio’s floor.
