INTRO: Based on the response to our extensive article on the Córdoba Guitar Festival 2010 we have decided to put together a bit of guide for English speaking flamenco students and aficionados who want to attend and are just not to clear on how to register, secure a place, meet all the requirements and we even have some great accommodation picked out for you.
It is not required to speak Spanish to attend the courses because for both guitar and dance it’s mostly show, copy and practice (singing of course is different).
GUIDE: So this guide to registering for the Córdoba Guitar Festival will help you to navigate through some of the Spanish corners of the registration site.
http://www.teatrocordoba.com/guitarra2010/index.php?lang=en
You can bypass that site and just print and use the Córdoba Guitar Festival Registration Form PDF, but if you use the online registration website you can track the order of your class requests and add to your study programme at any point.
As an example registration we are going to use the main Flamenco Guitar Course with Manolo Sanlúcar.
Teachers:
What usually happens when you arrive is that you will already be sorted into about four different groups based on the MP3′s that you send in. Then, each group will be rotated from teacher to teacher. The whole course lasting for 9 days.
Assistant Teachers: David Pino (cante), Lola Pérez (baile).

If you already have the registration site loaded just go to course that you are registering for and click the REGISTER link (not the login button, just to the right of that, next to the image of the key.)
STEP-BY-STEP: Here is a quick step-by-step on registering and securing a place in a course at Córdoba Guitar Festival 2010 via the online registration website. There is an English link on the site, but a lot of information was and may still be in Spanish, but we have that sorted for you below.
Then scroll down
ONLY tick the (315 euros) box
The other cheaper options are for auditors.
Below all that you will see the address, phone numbers, fax numbers and email which I have also copied into the bottom of this article.
And below that….
Securing a place is based on a strict order of receipt of all the required information, photos, payment and the MP3s for Manolo Sanlúcar.
PAYMENT: Credit card details can be sent in via email, fax or post. You must include; card-holder’s full name, credit card number, expiry date and the three digit security code on the back of your card.
The details for Bank Transfer are a little more complicated (details are in the PDF) and you need to state the course name on the payment slip and then send a copy of the transfer receipt into the Córdoba Guitar Festival.
ACCOMMODATION: You will be responsible for booking your own accommodation so get onto that early… This is the city’s main event for the year and a lot of people flood in to see the shows.
We recommend the Hotel Boston, they have rooms from ~$50 Australian per night (single with bath). The rooms are nice, the hotel is very central to the different festival venues and all the rooms have free Wi-fi. Plus views over the lively Plaza de Las Tendillas, which features the famous flamenco clock Reloj de las Tendillas, chiming hourly with a simple soleares played Juan Serrano (instead of strokes).
