The Met’s Carmen live in Cinemas

The brand new season for 2010 will be captured, live, in HD and screened in cinema screens all around the world, including Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra and a few regional cinemas as well.

Next to the works of Federico García Lorca, Carmen is one of the most popular stories to base a Flamenco production on, due mainly to her untamable gypsy spirit and the strength and sexuality that the character Carmen shares with the worlds best Flamenco Dancers.

The composer is George Bizet.
Librettists are Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy.
Performed by Latvian born, Elĩna Garanĉa as Carmen and the French Tenor, Roberto Alagna as Don José.
