A Night In Spain

Rippon Lea Estate BallroomAs part of Rippon Lea Estate’s entertainment program in Melbourne, the historic estate – built in 1868 – hosted a Spanish themed evening in its grand ballroom on May 16th 2010.

The evening was part of series of piano recitals (Team of Pianists) and along with the Spanish compositions Kieren Ray (guitarist), Laura Uhe (dancer) and Nella Randone (dancer) were brought in to perform some live flamenco.

Clive O’Connell from ‘The Age’ had great things to say about the evening overall and had high praise for Kieren, Laura and Nella.

“Expert dancers Laura Uhe and Nella Randone had space enough for duets and solos: a sinuous sevillana and alegria with a rousing Malaga tambos duet to finish, supported by Kieren Ray’s firm-speaking guitar; a welcome innovation on a fairly stolid night.”

Thanks for the review – I would love to have attended. Was this evening publicised, either on this website or anywhere else? I’ll keep an eye out in future!
